#VisitMyMosque day is a national initiative facilitated by the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), encouraging mosques across the UK to hold mosque open days (http://www.visitmymosque.org/).
Waltham Forest Islamic Association (WFIA) is honoured to once again invite our esteemed local neighbours, residents, businesses and members of other local organisations to our annual Visit My Mosque Day.
Date: Sunday 5th February 2015
WFIA Lea Bridge Road Mosque
439-451 Lea Bridge Road
Leyton, London, E10 7EA (Map)
WFIA has been an integral part of the local community for over forty years. We believe in engaging with the community around us.
This Open Day is to help demystify Islam and Muslims. We welcome and encourage your questions. We receive questions from the community by the dozen via our website, by email, letters or phone calls. The Open Day is a chance to meet face to face and see for yourself.
What does the inside of a mosque look like?
Why not take a tour and see the inside of our beautiful mosque yourself – which is one of the best buildings in the whole borough.
How do Muslims pray?
Watch three of the five daily Muslim prayers live led by our expert Imams. You can see how congregational (group) prayers are important to Muslims and also hear the call to prayer (Azan) before each prayer.
What is Islam? Who are Muslims? What are their beliefs?
These are but a few among recent questions we receive almost daily.
Join us on this special occasion with your family and friends. There is lots planned inside including free henna painting and a hijab station.
We would be honoured if you could join us on #VisitMyMosque Day. This is an open invitation to all – no booking needed.
